The future tense

Another way to talk about future events is to use the future tense. The future tense expresses what will happen. To form the future tense of regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs, use the same set of endings for all verbs and add them to the infinitive.

-emos
-ás -éis
-án

trabajaré
(yo) seré

viviré
(nosotros)
(nosotras)
trabajaremos
seremos
viviremos

trabajarás
(tú) serás

vivirás
(vosotros)
(vosotras)
trabajaréis
seréis
viviréis
Ud. trabajará
(él) será
(ella) vivirá
Uds. trabajarán
(ellos) serán
(ellas) vivirán

Note that all forms have a written accent mark except nosotros(as).

Mañana comenzaremos el trabajo.
Tomorrow we will begin work.

El futuro será mejor.
The future will be better.

Irregular verbs in the future use the same endings as regular verbs, but the stems are irregular. Here are some irregular future stems:

Today you presented your travel brochures to the class.

You will also have a personal speaking assessment with me! I will ask you for recommendations for a family trip that I want to take my family on! You being the travel agent will need to give me recommendations, suggestions, advice! You will use the subjunctive to give and my family recommendations on where we should go and what we should do there! You will need to come in and complete the individual speaking on your own if you do not get it done in class. Huskie hour would be a good time!

Example questions!

Nosotros queremos nadar y bucear en el mar. ¿Qué nos recomiendas?

Nosotros queremos ver animales silvestres y hacer caminatas en las montañas. ¿Qué nos recomiendas?

Nosotros no queremos ir a una playa. Queremos visitar museos y lugares históricos. ¿Que nos recomiendas?

Task

You have a job at a travel agency. A client wants to take her family on a summer trip to a Spanish-speaking country. She wants to spend a few days in a nice city, a day or two visiting ruins or historical sites, and a few days at the beach. Recommend a country and provide key travel information.

Prepare Choose a country that meets the client’s criteria. Be sure to look at several countries before deciding which one to select. Research the following information for your client:

Lugar

¿Qué país, ciudad, lugares históricos y playas recomiendas que visiten? ¿Qué itinerario sugieres?

Documentos

¿Necesitan un pasaporte u otro documento?

Transporte y equipaje

¿Cómo recomiendan que viajen? ¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto?
¿Cuánto equipaje pueden llevar? ¿Qué ropa deben levar?

Practice Go through your presentation. You can use your notes in practice, but not when you present. Try to:
provide all the information on each point
present the information in a logical sequence

MODELO
Recomiendo que Uds. viajen a Puerto Rico. Allí pueden ver muchos lugares interesantísimos. La ciudad de San Juan es muy grande y les ofrece mucho a los turistas .

Present Present the trip you’ve planned to your client. You may want to include a map or visuals to assist with your presentation. TRAVEL BROCHURE!

Evaluation Your teacher may give you a rubric for how the presentation will be graded. You will probably be graded on:
how complete your research is
how much information you communicate
how easy it is to understand you
